Can other Dental Practices refer a patient to you?

Yes of course, we are happy to accept referrals, and do from over 58 dentists in the region.  They can either use our dedicated referral form on our website here or we can send the dentist some referral forms in the post.  Our practice manager is available if you would like to discuss the referral process in more detail. Get in touch here.

Do you provide dental implants?

Yes, Neil Cooper is very experienced and highly regarded Implant dentist.  We currently have over 60 dentists in the region who refer patients to us.  These are dentists who either do not provide implants or, pass on their more complex cases to us. Get in touch here.

How much do implants cost?

Neil Cooper would be able to give you an approximate price at the end of your consultation and then follow this up with a written treatment quotation if you are interested in proceeding. Every situation is different and there may well be more than 1 option.  As a guide however a completed single implant requires an investment of £2750.  Subsequent implants (placed on the same day) attract a discount of 20%, being £2000.

A consultation with Neil Cooper can be arranged for £75.00.  This is an hour long appointment where Neil will listen carefully to your concerns, carry out a thorough examination and take any necessary x-rays.  You will be given lots of time to ask questions and discuss the outcome you would like.

Is implant treatment very painful?

With sedation and anaesthetic you will not feel any pain during the implant placement.  Following your surgery Neil will provide the medications needed to keep you comfortable.  We generally find that as Iong as patients take the suggested medication at the suggested time, they experience very little pain.

Would you like to speak with our practice manager, Carrie, who will be able to answer many of your questions?  Carrie can also put you in touch with one of our Patient Ambassadors who has experienced similar treatment and this would possibly give you a much better understanding and allay any concerns you may have. Contact Carrie here.

How long does a new patient consultation last?

We allow up to 90 minutes for a new patient consultation.  This allows time for you to discuss any concerns you may have with your treatment co-ordinators and your dentist.  It also allows plenty of time for your dentist to go through any suggested treatment with you in detail and to take any x-rays which may be required.

How long will my treatment last?

Appointments at Crossbank may last longer than you would normally expect. However, once you visit you will realise that our environment is an extremely comfortable one to receive excellent dental care (we regularly have patients falling asleep on our ‘dental beds’!

New patient Consultation 60 - 90 minutes

Examination 20 mins

Hygiene Appt 30 minutes (unless the dentist or hygienist suggests otherwise)

Fillings. The dentist will determine the length of the appointment needed once he has carried out his examination.

Crowns. You will need 2 visits. The first to prepare the tooth generally lasts 60 minutes and then 2 weeks later a 2nd visit which normally lasts 20 minutes.

Root Canal Treatment. Sometimes this requires 2 visits. Once your dentist has assessed your situation he shall advise how many appointments are required and the length of time they should last.

Tooth removal. Normally 30-40 minutes but the dentist will determine the length of the appointment needed once he has carried out his examination.

Tooth Whitening The first appointment is usually for 20 minutes to take impressions.  The 2nd (fitting) appointment is again usually for 20 minutes and then we ask you to come back for a 10 minute review approximately 2 weeks later.

Implant treatment.  This really depends on the treatment involved. Neil will issue a treatment plan following your implant consultation.  This will detail the treatment involved and give a breakdown of the stages of treatment, the length of time in between appointments and the costs involved at various stages of treatment. Implant treatment can take as little as 5-6 months.

Do you offer sedation & what does it involve?

Sedation puts you into a state of indifference. It feels like a 'dream state' or 'out of body' experience.  You are are still able to respond if the dentist makes a simple request. However, our dental beds are very comfortable, we cover your eyes to protect them from the bright lights and often cover you with a soft blanket. It’s dark, warm and cosy and patients often fall asleep. Therefore the treatment time passes very quickly.

You will need a responsible adult to take you home, you cannot drive or operate machinery until the next day.  Please also ensure you have a light breakfast or lunch before your appointment.  We normally recommend that you wear a short sleeved tee shirt, no nail polish and very little make up on the day.
